MCCD Annual Meeting

We have decided to have the Meade County Conservation District Annual Meeting on February 27, 2009. So mark you calendars and be ready for some good fun, great food, entertainment and door prizes! Country Catering will be preparing the food again this year so come hungry! You MUST R.S.V.P. by February 16, 2010 if you plan on attending!

Our entertainment for the night will be Geff Dawson, Cowboy Poet, from Alma, Kansas. Born and raised in Abilene, Kansas, Geff grew up as a cowboy competing in the rodeo circuit, training and shoeing horses and studying Animal Science at Kansas State University. Geff and his wife Dawn own a horse ranch in Wabaunsee County, Kansas where they are involved in the horse industry as clinicians and trainers.

He currently manages one of the most historic ranches in Wabaunsee County, Kansas where they run grass cattle and operate an all-natural beef program.

Geff’s cowboy poetry and western music tell stories of his ranch life and work experiences. From funny stories to crowd-engaging western music, Geff is sure to entertain audiences of all kinds. His poetry style keeps you hooked and in the moment of the event that led him to writing the poem from beginning to end. You will quickly find that he’s entertaining and sincere and he portrays it in a fashion that all can enjoy.

In 2003, Geff began writing cowboy poetry about his true-life experiences while working on different cattle ranches in the area. Geff was one of the featured cowboy western entertainers at Silver Dollar City's Salute to the Great American Cowboy in 2007 and 2008.

Geff has been honored with the 2006 Best of the Best Award at the worlds only Western Legends Roundup Cowboy Poetry Rodeo in 2006. The event was held in Kanab, Utah where he competed against 70 plus other contestants. He followed it with a trip to the Colorado State Fair where he won the "People's Choice Buckle" and was the "Reserve Champion" in their cowboy poetry competition. Geff has recently been awarded the 2009 National Cowboy Poetry "Best of the West" Shootout Campion.

Please come and join us with your best boots on February 27, 2010 at the Meade High School with "grub and all the fixin's" at 6pm!
